In June 2004, I
graduated with certification and honors from Pinnacle Career
Institutes 720 hour Accredited Massage Therapy Program in Lawrence,
Kansas. Through this program I gained a rich knowledge of
Anatomy, Physiology, Kinesiology, Pathology, and Swedish Massage
along with Sports, Prenatal, Infant/Child, Geriatric, Deep
Tissue, Heated Stone, Reflexology and Paraffin
Treatments. While attending PCI, I also
completed an additional 40 hours of Anatomy,
Physiology, and Muscular Palpation.
From August 2004 - July
2006, I was employed at Circle S Ranch and Country Inn in
Lawrence, Kansas as a massage therapist where I had the opportunity
to expand my knowledge and talents to include Hot/Cold Stone
Therapy, Body Wraps, Body Scrubs, Couples Massage, and Couples
Instructional Massage. I was also in charge of managing and
maintaining most aspects of the Massage and Spa at the Ranch from
simple cleaning duties to training other massage therapists for the
treatments offered by the
Ranch.

In August 2005, I completed a 6
hour Continuing Education Certification Program in The Art of
Massage Cupping Therapy from Advanced Continuing Education in
Asheville, North Carolina. Through this program I learned
the history, techniques, and therapeutic uses of this modality as a
stand alone therapy and as an added therapeutic technique to
Swedish, Deep Tissue, Body Wraps, and Reflexology
treatments.
From September 2005 - February 2006, I
opened my first office in Lawrence, Kansas. I quickly
found that having an office in a large town was not for me. I
was raised in McLouth, Kansas all my life and value the
safety, security, and towns people it has to offer.
This got me to thinking. Why can't the smaller communities
have the convenience and opportunities of the larger
ones? That finalized it!! I decided to bring my
office to my hometown and its surrounding communities offering what
the big spas offer without the hustle and bustle.
In November 2006, I gained employment
with Pinnacle Career Institute as an Instructor in their
Accredited Massage Therapy Program. My responsibilities
include training massage therapy students and providing them
with a quality education to gain their certification.
On December 13, 2006, I officially
opened my new office in my hometown of McLouth, Kansas offering
relaxation and therapeutic massage treatments. I am
currently scheduling appointments Tuesday thru Saturday,
9am-8pm. Sorry no walk-ins, but you may call to inquire about
same day scheduling.
In April 2007, I completed an 8 hour
Continuing Education Certification Program in The Art of Nature's
Healing Stone Therapy from the Institute for Therapeutic Massage in
Pompton Lakes, New Jersey. Through this program I gained
a deeper knowledge of how to use heated and/or cooled stones
for therapeutic healing and soft tissue
manipulation.
In April 2007, I also completed an 8
hour Continuing Education Certification Program in Gemstone and
Crystal Healing from the Institute for Therapeutic Massage in
Pompton Lakes, New Jersey. Through this program I learned how
this form of energy work uses gemstones and/or crystals to
return balance to the human energy field, otherwise known in the
West as Auras. I also learned how to test, activate, and
balance the 7 main Chakras, or energy centers, found along
the midline of the human body with the use of pendulums,
gemstones, and crystals.
Currently, I am working
toward a Myoskeletal Alignment Level I &
II certification. Through this program I am learning to
recognize postural imbalances and how
to promote balance through soft tissue
manipulation. This modality works hand in hand with
Chiropractic skeletal adjustments to promote skeletal
alignment. Upon completion of my certification, I plan to
offer this service as a stand alone treatment.
